Bid to smuggle hashish to Karachi foiled

KARACHI (PPI): In a short span of less than one month, Sindh Excise Department has foiled another attempt to smuggle hashish to Karachi by arresting an accused.
At Ubauro check post, an excise team, headed by Excise Inspector Qamar Udddin Sayal, checked a suspicious truck No C-2897 and recovered 40 kilograms of hashish. It also arrested accused Ehithasamul Haq and impounded the truck.
A case has been lodged against the accused and an investigation was underway. It is pertinent to mention here that since 14 July, Sindh Excise Department has recovered 100 kilograms of hashish and 336 kilograms of heroin besides arresting five accused involved in these crimes.
While congratulating the excise team Obauro, Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Secretary Excise and Taxation Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh and Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui have expressed their hope that they would continue their efforts against drug peddlers and eradicate this menace from the society.
Chawla said that it showed that the officers and officials of Sindh excise department were working hard to eliminate the drug peddlers, adding that all stakeholders had to work together for discouraging the use of the drugs in new generation.
